About Jessica's Kitchen
Jessica Hall, Baker & Cake Decorator
Hello and welcome to Jessica's Kitchen! I'm Jessica and I'm so glad you're here.
The Kitchen is my happy place, but I've had quite a variety of experiences up to this point. I've studied ancient languages, run a tax credit program, and now I'm thrilled to make my former side hustle my full-time career!
I have been in the kitchen cooking and baking for as long as I can remember (and probably even before that) when my grandmother would let me throw whatever I wanted in a giant bowl and later pretend I had made gourmet cookies. Thankfully, my recipes have improved a bit since then!

I have a BA in Classics (Latin, Greek, and ancient history with a focus on the early Roman Empire) from Saint Anselm College, and I did my graduate work in Classical Archaeology at Tufts University. After school, I began working for the State of CT in the LIHTC compliance program, and later, as a high school Latin, English, and History teacher, which I loved with all my heart and truly believed would be my "forever job." Baking was my creative outlet and then my "side hustle," though I often dreamed of having a space of my own.
It was during the pandemic that I realized I was being called in a different direction. I asked for a clear sign and was provided with plenty! Still, it was only with the support of my husband, my family, and my wonderful clients, that I was able to make Jessica's Kitchen a full-time reality.

While I have been baking for many, many years (my Chocolate Chunk Cookie recipe has not changed since I was 8!) I never set out to be a cake decorator, and in fact, I only ever wanted to make cookies, cupcakes, and tiny desserts. As time went on, my love of decorating cakes developed, as well as my own personal cake style. I particularly love working with fresh florals and piping my buttercream "Garden Cakes." Every item on my menu has been tested time and again, approved by children and adults alike, and comes with nearly four decades' worth of practice and all the love in my heart. I hope you enjoy my creations as much as my family does, and as much as I love making them for you.
